Langkawi trip Day 2: Gunung Raya Highest peak in Langkawi

The last stop of Day 2 sight seeing, the highest peak in Langkawi Gunung Raya. This is my second time visit to Gunung Raya, the last time was back in 2009 with my course mate. I remember Gunung Raya for its freeze and cooling air and we had a wonderful time there, so I decided to visit it again. Click here for the coordination, if you refer to the reference map that I have shared before, then it is on Point I, not too far away from Air Hangat Village.

It is a 12km drive to the hill peak, and the journey start off quite scary this time. LOL!!!! Not too long after we turn into the road direct to the hill top, we saw a snake went crossing the road and it looks like a king cobra *omg..... Due to that, we all dare not wind down the window, just afraid that a second one might just fall into our car. However, this is just a sharing, please do not be afraid to visit Gunung Raya just because of that : )

Besides the scary part, there is also an exciting part! I saw a wild hornbills flying cross the sky, from a tree top to another!!! It is so coincident that I look up just to see the trees and I saw a big bird with yellow horn flying across! Yes, it is hornbills, the state bird of Sarawak aka Land of the Hornbills. Unfortunately it happen so fast and I could not able to snap photo of it. Next time when you are there, please try your luck and look up to see if you able to spot these rare birds : )

And we arrived at the hill top within 30 minutes drive, what awaiting us up there is a foggy view with very low visibility. There is a viewing tower belong to the resort, where you could pay RM 10 and get up there to have a better view above 900m from sea level, in the mean time enjoy a complimentary herbal tea provided by them. I wanted to but due to the weather with lots of fog, it will be a waste of money then. So we decided to just stay there and enjoy the nice cooling air instead : )

A photo in front of the viewing tower is a MUST : D

As you can see from the photos above, the weather is cooling and breezy, and there's not much tourist which mean less crowded. But there's not much view that you could see from here with the weather. At first we planned to wait for the sunset but in the end we have to cancel it. I suggest that if you wish to pay a visit to here, you may come during the noon time, I believe it is a nice spot to run away from the hot weather and the view must be much better.

Langkawi Seafood: 同心圆 GLK TONG SHAM YUN Seafood Restaurant

Langkawi Day 1: Dinner   We have chosen Tong Sham Yun Seafood as our first night dinner. Read a few review about Wonderland and Tong Sham Yun which is located side by side in Kuah town, I decided to go to Tong Sham Yun as the review is better in term of service and charge.   And we can see that Wonderland is full of foreigners that dine in there, while Tong Sham Yun have more of local or Malaysian tourist. The atmosphere is nice, located just beside a river and the dining is open aired. The owner is nice and friendly, recommended a few dishes which I think is definitely recommended!!! First on the list, the santan prawn 椰汁虾 (RM 27). Nice and sweet, with the aroma of santan and some spice such as curry, the combination is very nice and it taste surprise to me. I have never taste prawn which is cook in this manner and it is good : ) Definitely thumbs up for this!   The steam fish, freshly catch (not the frozen type). Cost us RM 8 per 100g (RM 48 in total), the owner has ch

Where to eat in Langkawi: Chinese coffee shop

Saw a lot of post complaint about there is no Chinese food in Langkawi, so here I am to share where did I find Chinese food in Langkawi during my trip.   Besides the seafood restaurant Tong Sham Yun Seafood  which you could read about the review following the link above, I'm gonna share about the lunch that we had after island hooping.   This is the kind of coffee shop that we could find around Malaysia, however I did not see much in Langkawi. We found it on our way back to hotel in the afternoon, located at the end of the same street where Hotel Bahagia located. Sorry for not remember the name of the shop, but it is easy to spot if you can find Hotel Bahagia, or follow the coordination I shared below.   There is not much variety or stall in the shop, and we saw most of the customer are from local and many of them are having Pan Mee. So we follow and ordered dried Pan Mee which cost RM 5.00. Quite reasonable in fact, knowing we are tourist : ) All of us feel satisfy with th
