Langkawi Travel 2014: Overview Activity sharing

Thanks to AirAsia, now everyone can fly to Langkawi at a lower fare than taking a ferry from Penang port. By doing this, we can save some time and some money to spend on the duty free chocolate and beers : )

According to Wikipedia:

Langkawi, officially known as Langkawi the Jewel of Kedah is an island group of 104 islands in the Andaman Sea, some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. The islands are a part of the state of Kedah, which is adjacent to the Thai border. By far the largest of the islands is the Pulau Langkawi, granted tax-free status by 1987 with the intention of promoting tourism and improve the lives of the islanders.

This time I travel with my boyfie along with my parents to Langkawi, and the overview of our activity is as per below:

Day 1: Arrival at Pulau Langkawi airport - Car rental - Hotel Bahagia - Tong Shum Yun Seafood - Dataran Lang - Duty Free shopping

Day 2: Breakfast at hotel - Island HoopingLunch at Kuah town - Hotel Bahagia - Black Sand beach - Air Hangat Village - Langkawi Craft Complex - Gunung Raya

Day 3: Breakfast at Hotel - PETRONAS Harbour Park - Langkawi Cable Car - Check out - Lunch at Kuah town - Langkawi Fair Shopping mall - Airport

And the expenses for 3D2N:
  • Air ticket: RM 99 AirAsia (compare to RM 115 for ferry)
  • Hotel: RM 70 for standard room 2 nights stay (breakfast included) Hotel Bahagia
  • Car rental: RM 160 for MyVi 1.3 (48 hours)
  • Petrol: RM 35
  • Tickets: RM 25 + RM 15 (Island Hooping + Cable Car)

Hope this would be helpful and I will keep writing in details for this Langkawi trip in other post : ) Stay tune and good day!

  2. Hi Nali,

Thanks for the comment : ) For car rental, I actually did not prebook it, I make the rental upon arrival at airport after asking for the price and choose the one that I feel comfortable with. Basically the price is almost the same for MyVi at off season. RM160 is for 48 hours. Hope this help and enjoy ur trip!!

Langkawi Seafood: 同心圆 GLK TONG SHAM YUN Seafood Restaurant

Langkawi Day 1: Dinner   We have chosen Tong Sham Yun Seafood as our first night dinner. Read a few review about Wonderland and Tong Sham Yun which is located side by side in Kuah town, I decided to go to Tong Sham Yun as the review is better in term of service and charge.   And we can see that Wonderland is full of foreigners that dine in there, while Tong Sham Yun have more of local or Malaysian tourist. The atmosphere is nice, located just beside a river and the dining is open aired. The owner is nice and friendly, recommended a few dishes which I think is definitely recommended!!! First on the list, the santan prawn 椰汁虾 (RM 27). Nice and sweet, with the aroma of santan and some spice such as curry, the combination is very nice and it taste surprise to me. I have never taste prawn which is cook in this manner and it is good : ) Definitely thumbs up for this!   The steam fish, freshly catch (not the frozen type). Cost us RM 8 per 100g (RM 48 in total), the owner has ch

Where to eat in Langkawi: Chinese coffee shop

Saw a lot of post complaint about there is no Chinese food in Langkawi, so here I am to share where did I find Chinese food in Langkawi during my trip.   Besides the seafood restaurant Tong Sham Yun Seafood  which you could read about the review following the link above, I'm gonna share about the lunch that we had after island hooping.   This is the kind of coffee shop that we could find around Malaysia, however I did not see much in Langkawi. We found it on our way back to hotel in the afternoon, located at the end of the same street where Hotel Bahagia located. Sorry for not remember the name of the shop, but it is easy to spot if you can find Hotel Bahagia, or follow the coordination I shared below.   There is not much variety or stall in the shop, and we saw most of the customer are from local and many of them are having Pan Mee. So we follow and ordered dried Pan Mee which cost RM 5.00. Quite reasonable in fact, knowing we are tourist : ) All of us feel satisfy with th
