Langkawi Trip Day 2: Island Hooping

Day 2 Morning: Island Hooping

After having our breakfast at Hotel Bahagia, we head to Underwater World located at Pantai Cenang to meet up our pick up van with the contact provided by the guy where we rent our Myvi. We got a fair price from this guy of RM25 per person, with the recommendation from car rental guy : )

However, the van that they use to pick us up is old and bad in shape, with the air-cond not working well : ( But we are just taking this van for a short distance so we don't really mind. We were told to wait at the beach side to be call on board, so we waited and took some photos!

And finally our boat has come and we have to literally walk into the water in order to get up to the boat, it is kind of difficult for mummy to get up the boat but she manage with papa's help *sweet sweet oh* And after everyone get set with their life jacket, the boat is ready to go!! It is a great experience where the boat is speeding but the boatman did really care for our safety and did not go out of speed, at least I did not feel my life is in danger : ) The boatman stop at a spot and let us took some photos of the famous Pulau Dayang Bunting (Lake of Born Maiden, 孕妇岛).

After that we continue to head towards that island. Upon arrival, we are welcome by monkeys on the island. We were told not to feed them and to take good care of our belongings. On the ways to the lake inside the island, it is a long and tiring walk with stairs case. And we manage to made it all the way to the lake, the view is nice and stunning. I find this lake special to have a fresh water lake within this small island surrounded by sea water! You may enjoy the swimming in the lake with some deck prepared for visitor, or you may rent a pedal boat to explore the lake with a price at RM30 for about an hour.

We spent about an hour on the island and get back to our boat for the next destination, eagle feeding. Basically we did not feed the eagle, is the boatman that will throw some food into the water in order for those eagle to come and get it so we have the chance to get a closer look on the eagles. There is plenty of eagles there when we reach there, we stay on the boat and observed. I manage to snap a few good shots when the eagles comes down to get the food in the water!!

We stay there for about 10mins and then we head to another island, known as Pulau Beras Basah (aka The Wet Rice Island). According to local legend, Beras Basah, which means Wet Rice Island, got its name when a rice-loaded boat was stranded on its shores after a violent storm unleashed by a furious spirit.

The beach is beautiful, the sand is soft and milky, however the water is not clear due to the muddy soft sand. You may enjoy to swim there as the water is clean, or you may also go for watersports activities such as parachuting, but we didn't try it out, knowing that it is quite pricey. We got to spend an hour there but it is at the hottest moment of the day, 12pm in the noon @o@  So we just spend most of the time under the shade and snap some photos : )

And this is the last station for our island hooping trip, basically this is a good experience and enjoyable!! Island hooping is one of the few attraction in Langkawi, where you can plan as a half day event and enjoy the beach far away from the main island : )

Langkawi Seafood: 同心圆 GLK TONG SHAM YUN Seafood Restaurant

Langkawi Day 1: Dinner   We have chosen Tong Sham Yun Seafood as our first night dinner. Read a few review about Wonderland and Tong Sham Yun which is located side by side in Kuah town, I decided to go to Tong Sham Yun as the review is better in term of service and charge.   And we can see that Wonderland is full of foreigners that dine in there, while Tong Sham Yun have more of local or Malaysian tourist. The atmosphere is nice, located just beside a river and the dining is open aired. The owner is nice and friendly, recommended a few dishes which I think is definitely recommended!!! First on the list, the santan prawn 椰汁虾 (RM 27). Nice and sweet, with the aroma of santan and some spice such as curry, the combination is very nice and it taste surprise to me. I have never taste prawn which is cook in this manner and it is good : ) Definitely thumbs up for this!   The steam fish, freshly catch (not the frozen type). Cost us RM 8 per 100g (RM 48 in total), the owner has ch

Where to eat in Langkawi: Chinese coffee shop

Saw a lot of post complaint about there is no Chinese food in Langkawi, so here I am to share where did I find Chinese food in Langkawi during my trip.   Besides the seafood restaurant Tong Sham Yun Seafood  which you could read about the review following the link above, I'm gonna share about the lunch that we had after island hooping.   This is the kind of coffee shop that we could find around Malaysia, however I did not see much in Langkawi. We found it on our way back to hotel in the afternoon, located at the end of the same street where Hotel Bahagia located. Sorry for not remember the name of the shop, but it is easy to spot if you can find Hotel Bahagia, or follow the coordination I shared below.   There is not much variety or stall in the shop, and we saw most of the customer are from local and many of them are having Pan Mee. So we follow and ordered dried Pan Mee which cost RM 5.00. Quite reasonable in fact, knowing we are tourist : ) All of us feel satisfy with th
