I Luv Denmark_Part 1

I work for a Danish company, and at the end of September this year I have been given an opportunity to travel to Denmark as a business trip. It is autumn time when I travel there, and I stay around for about 3 weeks. This is the first time I’m travelling to Europe so I am super excited and feels so blessed!!!! I found Denmark to be a lovely country so I decided to write a post to share with all of you on my experience.

Introduction

Denmark, is a Scandinavian country in northern Europe, located southwest of Sweden and south of Norway, and bordered to the south by Germany. As a member of EU, Danish krone (DKK) is still widely use, and they accept Euro in some of the restaurant or shop. You will have to prepare Danish krone if you are travelling to Denmark (the currency is about RM1 to DKK 1.80). Official language is Danish, mostly seen on signboard. However most of the people speaks English, and you can find English signboard in most of the places in Copenhagen.

Flight

The flight that I took is Singapore Airlines, with only 1 stop over Singapore.

Penang Ăł Singapore: Silk Air
Singapore Ăł Copenhagen: Singapore Airlines
Comment: Singapore Airlines offers the best flight schedule for those who travel from Malaysia to Copenhagen, with only 1 stop at Singapore. The flight time also considered very convenient where you board the flight from Penang to Singapore at 6pm in the evening and reach Singapore by around 7pm, where you can have your dinner at the airport which offers lots of food variety. After dinner you may shop around the duty free shop while waiting for another boarding at 12am to Copenhagen. This is going to be 12 hours flight to Copenhagen, and you will touch down Copenhagen at 6am local time. I find this arrangement of time is just nice and not too pack or rush, and allow you to adjust your bio-clock to adapt to Denmark time which is 6 hours slower than Malaysia. You may sleep during the flight and when you wake up it will be in the morning where you can start to explore the city!!
Meals offer as lunch, on the flight to Singapore from Copenhagen.

Simple meal on Silk Air, from Singapore to Penang.

On top of that, personally I also preferred to have a stopover at Singapore because Changi Airport is ranked at top of the list among the best airport around the world. Besides the food variety that they offer is very good, the duty free shopping is also very tempting. Skin care, fragrance and watches are among the best to shop. Ladies, if you know what I mean~~~

Hotel

I stayed at a hotel near to city hall and the famous walking street Stroget, called First Hotel 27. I had a total of 16 nights stay at this hotel and personally I will say that it is not a very pleasant experience due to the wooden floor which make lots of noise all the time, but I would say that the location is great because it is near to walking street and within walking distance to the Copenhagen Central station (about 10 mins).

In blue circle is the Central Station Copenhage, in red circle is the walking Street Stroget.

And below are the photos of the hotel:

Weather

The weather forecast that I check before the trip showed that the temperature is around 10 to 15 degree Celcius, which I believe is still acceptable. However, upon arrival at the airport in the early morning at 6.00am, the temperature drop to 6 degree Celcius. And in actual fact, it is always colder than you could imagine because it is always very windy in Denmark. So please remember to bring a jacket that could keep you warm and some gloves please.
And the condition will get worse especially in the autumn where there is rain and the sun is being blocked out by the cloud, then you will feel really really cold. So an umbrella in your bag will come in handy as well.

Super clear sky with super fresh air. *breath breath breath
12 degree Celcius as shown on the thermometer, however it is much colder than you can imagine when it gets windy!

Public Transportation

The public transportation in Denmark include train, metro and bus. You may buy as single trip ticket, 10 clip card or Copenhagen card depending on your need, to use on all the public transportation. If you plan to go out of Copenhagen, then 10 clip card will be more useful and economical.

Copenhagen Card is available in 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours & 108 hours. It allows you to travel using train, metro and bus within Copenhagen area (2 zone) including airport (3 zone). And it also give you free admission to many attractions.

10 clip card is the one that I’m using during my stay in Denmark, because I’m travelling out of Copenhagen thus it will be more economical to use 10 clip card compare to single trip ticket. 10 clip card is available in 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 zone, depending on how far from the central Copenhagen you need to go. The further away you need to travel from Central Copenhagen, you need to passes more zone. The furthest you can go is 9 zone which is all zone. I’m buying 4 zone 10 clip card, cost DKK250. With 1 clip, it cost me DKK25 and I can travel up to 4 zone. It can also be used to travel up to 8 zone if you clip twice, and 9 zone if you clip 3 times. If compare to single trip ticket, to travel up to 4 zone will cost you DKK48 per trip!!! See how much different is that going to be?! So plan wisely~~ You may check the single trip price and learn more about different card here and here

4 zone 10 clip card. As you can see this is being clip 1 time with date and time on it, and it allow me to travel up to 4 zone.

Copenhagen Central Station, very clean!!!

Ok, so long for now and I will share more about place of interest and of course shopping in my next post ^.^ Stay tune and good night!!
